The Territory

Since July 2019, the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG area has been elected a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area covers approximately 18,000 hectares and is made up of fifteen municipalities between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. It is in this extraordinary setting, a pearl of the Italian wine-growing context and beyond, that the Toni Doro vineyards are located, where passion, tradition and respect for a territory with unique characteristics are the values that distinguish the philosophy of our products.

History

Located a few kilometers from Venice, the province of Treviso is an extraordinary combination of landscapes, art, history, natural beauty, hospitality and good food, capable of making the traveler fall in love and remain in the heart of those who travel through its scenery. Scenarios that change continuously, passing from the harmony of the plains to the reliefs of the Treviso Pre-Alps, from the soft hills of Prosecco to the woods of Montello and Cansiglio, through large and small cities, which make the territory of the Marca "Gioiosa et Amorosa" ( joyful and loving province ) a mosaic of beauties to be discovered.

Signs of Roman domination can be found throughout the territory, especially in the traces of centuriation, with particularly noteworthy evidence in the city of Oderzo, which now houses an interesting archaeological museum. Do not forget the Via Claudia Augusta, a very important connection axis wanted by the emperor Claudius in the first century after Christ, which crossed the Marca from south to north. The history of the Marca Trevigiana is also inextricably linked to that of the Republic of Venice, which in these lands, especially on the Cansiglio, not surprisingly known as the "wood of the Serenissima", procured the necessary timber for the construction of the powerful fleet which dominated the Mediterranean for centuries. In more recent times, however, the top of Grappa, Montello and the banks of the Piave were the scene of the heroic events of the Great War, the tragic conflict which ended with the final battle of Vittorio Veneto. In memory of those dramatic events, the military shrines of Grappa, Montello and Fagarè remain today, together with other commemorative monuments.

Art

In the Hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg Art is all to be explored and its beauty can be appreciated everywhere as for example in the canvases of the famous Giorgione and Tiziano and among the historic villages in the land of Antonio Canova, Andrea Palladio with a succession of villas, palaces, walled cities and interesting museums, along the many cycle paths, in the typical taverns and, finally, in the isolated beaches along the course of the Piave river. We are in the heart of the Alta Marca Trevigiana, so called since the 12th century and indicated the northernmost territory of the province of Treviso.
